Activities

The ECOSAN-CAPACITY consortium aims to carry out the following activities:

  • ECOSAN "Face-to-Face" training sessions: In the "Face-to-Face training session" the stakeholders will get a profound knowledge and awareness about sustainable sanitation, covering technical, environmental, social, economical, cultural and logistic issues. Two "Face-To-Face" training sessions of 10 days each will be accomplished in January and February of 2008. These will be intended for the guidance of three stakeholder groups: (1) Governmental level: municipalities and local authorities; (2) Multiplicators and consultants: NGOs, RTDs, related companies, journalists; (3) Implementers and users: engineers, planners, and households. Each training course will be prepared for an estimate of 30-40 persons, in which 3 different modules will be conducted: "ECOSAN FOR ME", "ECOSAN ON-THE-JOB" and "ECOSAN - KEEP ON DOING".

  • ECOSAN Distance learning sessions: with the aim of reaching participants who will not be able to participate in the Face-to-Face workshops, two online learning modules, the "ECOSAN Distance Training", will be carried out based on the material prepared for the in-person training and using the existing myNetWorks e-learning platform. One ECOSAN distance training session will last 2 weeks, in which an estimated of 25-30 stakeholders will be trained.

  • Development of a strategic action plan for further exploitation of achieved capacity in India, which will be presented to the most relevant governmental and other decision makers in a regional and national level. This plan will also contain a plan for further information campaigns, in order to make a sustainable use of the generated capacity and the developed training material aiming at further dissemination of the ecosan approach within India.

  • Preparation and distribution of mass dissemination tools, in order to inform other stakeholders interested on ecosan concepts, as well as to engage ecosan experts from EU and Asia in the discussions and trainings of sustainable sanitation in India.
